The 2nd Annual Amer?i?Can Canned Beer Fes?ti?val is only a few short days away. We here at the Brew Bros have been count?ing down the days for this event. After all, last year was an absolute blast (for last year?s details, go here). There are sev?eral rea?sons we are look?ing for?ward to the fes?ti?val with excited antic?i?pa?tion this?year.
One of the great things about the fes?ti?val is that it is not just a party. There is also a focus on rais?ing aware?ness for cans as a?legit?i?mate pack?age for craft beer. 10 years ago there weren?t many craft brew?ers that sold their beer in cans due to the stigma the large macro brew?eries have cre?ated, now there are 184 (thanks to the data from Craft Cans) who pack?age their beer in cans. Many peo?ple walk into a liquor store and see sev?eral brew?eries can?ning but are?hes?i?tant?to make the pur?chase due to their view on the drink?ing ves?sel. By host?ing a fes?ti?val with only canned beer, it gives the pub?lic a chance to dis?cover that they have actu?ally been miss?ing?out.
To that point, the fes?ti?val goes a bit fur?ther by offer?ing beers that are not avail?able to the state of Ari?zona. Granted Ari?zona has a sig?nif?i?cant num?ber of brew?eries that can (7 of them) and has a huge selec?tion as it is, but bring?ing in beers from out?side of the dis?tri?b?u?tion area is bril?liant. Last year, we had an oppor?tu?nity to try sev?eral great beers from brew?eries like Maui (now avail?able in AZ), Bohemian and 21st?Amend?ment. Some brew?eries that were not in atten?dance last year, but will be there this year include: 7 Seven Seas Brew?ing out of Seat?tle, WA; NOLA out of New Orleans, LA; and Uncom?mon Brew?ers out of Santa Cruz,?CA.
Before you attend the fes?ti?val, we rec?om?mend tak?ing a look at which brew?ers won medals in this years com?pe?ti?tion and be sure to plan on sam?pling those early. The judg?ing took place Sat?ur?day, May 12th (we were for?tu?nate to be involved in the judg?ing process) and Ari?zona brought home sev?eral medals in dif?fer?ent cat?e?gories. Take a look at the win?ners here.
As far as enter?tain?ment goes, this fes?ti?val will have it all. Reel Big Fish and 2 Toned Lizard Kings will be there as well as other local acts. The Ari?zona Soci?ety of Home?brew?ers will also be there with some home?brew?ing demon?stra?tions. Also, this year will be the first year The Brew Bros will have a booth set up, so come by and say?hello!
If you haven?t picked up your tick?ets yet, do so as soon as pos?si?ble. We have a feel?ing this is going to be a fes?ti?val that you will not want to miss.?Prost!

Patrick Schroeder has two rules: 1) Drink beer good peo?ple brew. Craft brew?ers brew for the love of their craft so give every beer a try. B) Never drink the sed?i?ment cake. Other than that, Patrick spends his time home brew?ing, spend?ing time with his fam?ily and tip?ping back a few pints with fel?low beer lovers. If you wish to con?tact him, send an email to patrick@thebrewbros.com. You can also find him on Twit?ter under the name beerguru14. Prost!
