(AP) ? Fire crews fought to save the U.S. Air Force Academy and residents begged for information on the fate of their homes Wednesday after a night of terror sent thousands of people fleeing a raging Colorado Springs wildfire.

More than 30,000 have been displaced by the fire, including thousands who frantically packed up belongings Tuesday night after it barreled into neighborhoods in the foothills west and north of Colorado's second-largest city. With flames looming overhead, they clogged roads shrouded in smoke and flying embers, their fear punctuated by explosions of bright orange flame that signaled yet another house had been claimed.

"The sky was red, the wind was blowing really fast and there were embers falling from the sky," said Simone Covey, a 26-year-old mother of three who fled an apartment near Garden of the Gods park and was staying at a shelter. "I didn't really have time to think about it. I was just trying to keep my kids calm."

Wilma Juachon sat under a tree at an evacuation center, wearing a mask to block the smoke. A tourist from California, she was evacuated from a fire near Rocky Mountain National Park last week and, now, from her Colorado Springs hotel.

"I said I hope it never happens again, and guess what?" Juachon said.

Shifting winds challenged firefighters trying to contain the 29-square-mile Waldo Canyon blaze and extinguish hot spots inside the city's western suburbs. Winds were calmer Wednesday night.

Some 3,000 more people were evacuated to the west of the fire, Teller County authorities said Wednesday, and Teller County courts were closed through Thursday.

Meanwhile, the White House said President Barack Obama will tour fire-stricken areas of Colorado on Friday and thank firefighters battling some of the worst fires to hit the American West in decades.

Colorado Springs Police Chief Peter Carey said Obama's visit to Colorado, considered a key battleground state in the presidential election, would not tax the city's already-strained police force. Gov. John Hickenlooper said he expected the president might sign a disaster declaration that would allow for more federal aid.

The full scope of the fire remained unknown. So intense were the flames and so thick the smoke that rescue workers weren't able to tell residents which structures were destroyed and which ones were still standing. Steve Cox, a spokesman for Mayor Steve Bach, reported that at least dozens of homes had been consumed.

Indeed, authorities were too busy Wednesday struggling to save homes in near-zero visibility to count how many had been destroyed in what is the latest test for a drought-parched and tinder-dry state. Crews also were battling a deadly and destructive wildfire in northern Colorado and another that flared Tuesday night near Boulder.

Carey said officials had no plans to release the numbers of homes destroyed ? insisting residents have a right to be told first, in private.

FBI spokesman Dave Joly said federal investigators are working closely with local and state law enforcement to determine if any of Colorado's fires were deliberately set or resulted from criminal activity. He did not elaborate.

Colorado Springs Fire Chief Rich Brown said his personnel heroically saved many homes in the midst of the firestorm. The strategy: protecting houses adjacent to those in flames to prevent a domino effect and then racing to the next suburban hot spot, a technique he called "triage." Federal firefighters worked with U.S. Army bulldozer crews from nearby Fort Carson to create perimeter lines.

The Waldo Canyon Fire burned about 10 acres along the southwest boundary of the Air Force Academy campus. No injuries or damage to structures ? including the iconic Cadet Chapel ? were reported.

Academy officials were relocating about 550 cadets off academy grounds late Wednesday. About 200 cadets in summer academics were being moved to the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs, and 350 others in airmanship and other training programs were released to local sponsor families, the school said. The cadet area isn't immediately threatened, and an incoming class of more than 1,000 is still scheduled to arrive Thursday.

Fort Carson had 121 soldiers building firebreaks around parts of the academy, aided by equipment including 10 heavy bulldozers, four excavators, 13 military transportation and support vehicles, and one commercial road grader, Army officials said.

The Red Cross struggled to accommodate victims at its shelters, with space enough for perhaps 2,500 people. Most evacuees were staying with family and friends.

Colorado wasn't the only state affected by fire, as several burned throughout the parched West.

Tom Harbour, director of fire and aviation management for the U.S. Forest Service, said that with several fires burning, there is competition for firefighting resources, but "we're still at a point where we've got lots of available assets to mix and match on individual incidents."

Harbour said there's a difference between what incident commanders want and what they need to fight a fire effectively. And despite some criticism, he said the agency has been working to get equipment where it's needed most. Four military C-130 tankers, which can each carry up to 3,000 gallons of water, are positioned to cover the blazes burning near Colorado Springs and Fort Collins, as well as the entire Front Range if another fire were to break out, he said. At total of 18 air tankers were assigned to wildfires across the region.

Overall, there have been fewer fires and less acreage burned for the first six months of the year than for the same period in the previous six years. Some states are seeing fires earlier this year, but Harbour said resources are far from being exhausted.

"With over 10,000 firefighters in the Forest Service and the ability to get over 700 aircraft of all types, we're feeling cautiously confident when you look at the season as a whole," Harbour said.

Among the fires elsewhere in the West:

? A central Utah wildfire has destroyed at least 56 structures, mainly homes, and continues to burn with little containment, authorities said Wednesday. Officials expected the damage estimate to rise considerably as they continue their assessment of the fire-ravaged area between Fountain Green and Fairview and north across the Utah County line. Authorities were about halfway through their damage assessment of a fire that has burned about 72 square miles. Officials returned to an evacuated area and found a woman dead Tuesday.

? Wildfires that have torched more than 200 square miles and burned dozens of homes in southeastern Montana spread farther Wednesday, with additional evacuations ordered after a blaze south of Roundup jumped a perimeter line built by firefighters. The growing Dahl fire, which has burned more than 60 homes by one estimate, forced an unknown number of residents to leave their homes near its southern flank, on top of an estimated 600 people evacuated the day before.

"That's one of the most dangerous fires in the history of Montana," Gov. Brian Schweitzer said.

? A wildfire in the Bridger-Teton National Forest has grown from about 2,000 acres to 12,000 acres, or nearly 19 square miles, officials said Wednesday. Authorities worked to get campers out of the area.

Vote result delay frays Egyptian nerves

CAIRO (Reuters) - Allegations of fraud delayed the result of Egypt's presidential election on Thursday, fraying nerves as the Muslim Brotherhood, which claims victory, threatened to take to the streets in protest at moves by the ruling generals to deny them power.

For a second night, thousands of protesters gathered in Cairo's Tahrir Square, cauldron of the revolution that overthrew Hosni Mubarak 16 months ago, to demand the officers who pushed him aside keep their word and hand over to civilians by July 1.

But with little sign that will happen, after the ruling military council dissolved the Islamist-led parliament and set strict limits on the new president's powers, prominent Islamists also sought to dampen talk of violence, for all their promise of permanent vigils on town squares until their demands are met.

Cairo's cafes and social media were alive with chatter about troops preparing to secure major cities, but military sources denied any unusual activity beyond an alertness in case of trouble from supporters of whichever side loses the election.

Adding to a sense of unease, Mubarak was himself back in the news. He was let out of the prison, where he began a life sentence this month, for treatment at a military hospital where the 84-year-old was said by security sources to be slipping in and out of a coma but "stabilizing." Many Egyptians suspect fellow generals of exaggerating to get their old comrade out of jail.

With Egypt's economy suffering from prolonged uncertainty - the pound hit a seven-year low against the dollar - Ahmed Shafik, the former general and Mubarak aide running against the Brotherhood's Mohamed Morsy, called for national unity, suggesting the losing candidate might serve in the winner's administration.

The state election committee has spent three days collating counts from the two-day runoff ballot but said it would miss a target of Thursday for announcing the result as it was going through hundreds of complaints submitted by either side. As the weekend starts on Friday, that may mean a wait until Sunday.

"The committee has decided to continue to examine the appeals ... and this will require more time before announcing the final results," the panel said in a statement. State media later quoted it confirming there would be no result on Thursday.

"We must give both sides all the time they need to ensure that the process is fair," Committee Secretary-General Hatem Bagato told Reuters. Officials have refused to give partial results.

OLD FEARS OF RIGGING

In a nation where vote-rigging was the norm during 60 years of military rule, and which is reeling from what critics called a "soft coup" by the generals in the past week, the delay has poured fuel on raging mutual suspicions of foul play.

"There is absolutely no justification for the result of the vote to be delayed," Muslim Brotherhood leader Essam el-Erian told Al-Jazeera on Wednesday, describing complaints from the Shafik camp as either invalid or too few to affect the result.

"I call on General Shafik, who learned chivalry in the Egyptian army, to come out tonight and congratulate the real winner, Dr. Mohamed Morsy," Erian added, while dismissing talk of violence: "There is absolutely no reason for a civil war."

Morsy said within hours of polls closing last Sunday that he beat Shafik by 52 percent to 48 percent, a figure the Brotherhood has stuck to, citing its detailed collation of local results.

Shafik's camp said on Wednesday it remained confident that its man, whom Mubarak appointed prime minister during the uprising, would win - although a spokesman for Shafik also described the vote as "too close to call."

The spokesman accused the Brotherhood of divisive tactics by trying to pre-empt the state election committee, but pledged to honor any result: "In the event that candidate Morsy is indeed successful," he said, "the first telephone call that he will receive will be from candidate Shafik."

Shafik would be willing to serve in a Brotherhood government or other post, he said, while the former air force commander would appoint an Islamist as one of three vice presidents as well as offer ministerial posts to the Muslim Brotherhood.

Either way, the election has shown strong support on both sides of a runoff that left many Egyptians disappointed at the elimination of other candidates in last month's first round. But many voted negatively - against Shafik because he was of the old government, or against Morsy and the prospect of religious rule.

The young, secular urban activists who were inspired by the overthrow of Tunisia's dictator to rise up against Mubarak in the Arab Spring have been dismayed by the success of the Muslim Brotherhood, based on its decades of clandestine organization. But many put aside their qualms to back Morsy in the runoff.

"Any attempt to impose Shafik, any attempt at manipulation by the military council to impose him on us, will take Egypt into a period of instability and tension," Ahmed Maher, of the April 6 youth protest movement, told Reuters.

"We will take to the streets and protest."

WESTERN QUALMS

Whoever is declared winner, the next president's powers have already been curbed in the last-minute decree issued by the army after it ordered the Islamist-led parliament dissolved.

The European Union on Wednesday joined the United States, both major aid donors, in expressing "concern" at what the army moves meant for a promised transition to democracy. But with the Egyptian army still, as it was throughout Mubarak's 30 years in power, a major ally in the confrontation with militant Islam, Western pressure on Cairo's generals may be limited.

On Tuesday, election monitors from the Carter Center, founded by former U.S. President Jimmy Carter, who brokered the peace between Egypt and Israel that unlocked U.S. aid, said they could not call the election free and fair as they were denied sufficient access to polling stations and results collation.

Brotherhood supporters and others staged a protest on Tuesday against the army's decree to limit the president's role and retain powers. A movement official, Osama Yassin, said on Wednesday he was calling on supporters to set up open-ended vigils in town squares across the nation to make their demands.

"We reject the overturning of the popular will," he said.

But Saad al-Katatni, speaker of the dissolved parliament, said the Brotherhood would not fight back with violence the way Algerian Islamists did after the army there cancelled a vote they had won in 1992, touching off a decade of bloody civil war.

"We are fighting a legal struggle via the establishment and a popular struggle in the streets," Katatni said. "This is the ceiling. I see the continuation of the struggle in this way," he told Reuters in the first interview since the dissolution.

"What happened in Algeria cannot be repeated in Egypt."

Be Curious About Literacy was the theme of Smart Start Rowan?s first annual child care conference and recognition event held at Hood Theological Seminary on June 9. The conference began with the keynote address delivered by Greg Zelnik or better known as Zelnik the Magician.

Certificates of recognition were presented to 6 individuals who had earned associate degrees in Early Childhood Education during the past year. Recipients included Barbara Eller, Megan Lyerly, Olympia Smyre, Tavella Miller, Brittany Murray and Sharon Wood.

Certificates were also presented to 2 individuals who had earned bachelor degrees in Early Childhood Education during the past year. Recipients included Judy McDaniels and Christine Gray.

The North Carolina Division of Child Development issues rated licenses to childcare facilities throughout the state that meet set standards and criteria in childcare. Childcare centers and family care homes receive ratings ranging from one star to five stars. Facilities can increase their star ratings by raising the overall quality of their programs. A total of five centers and family care homes were recognized for their increases in quality based on these standards. Recipients included Home Away From Home for receiving three stars. Four facilities received the highest licensing level of a five star rating, Advantage Children?s Center, McKnight Child Development Center, Noah?s Playloft Preschool and West Rowan Head Start.

The highlight of the event was the recognition of three childcare professionals whose contributions in early childhood education distinguished them in the estimation of the parents and colleagues who nominated them for the awards. The Director of the Year award, sponsored by Walser Technology Group, was presented to Andrea Mohammad, Director at Rowan Medical Child Development Center. The Teacher of the Year award, sponsored by First Bank on Jake Alexander Blvd., was presented to Pam Baugh, a teacher at St. John?s Child Development Center. And, the Family Child Care Professional of the Year award, sponsored by Snow Benefits Group, was presented to Deborah Neely of God?s Little Blessings.

Furyk, McDowell share US Open lead after Round 3

(AP) ? Graeme McDowell and Jim Furyk won the battle of par Saturday at the U.S. Open.

Tiger Woods lost a lot more than that.

McDowell showed the kind of fight that won him a U.S. Open two years ago down the coast at Pebble Beach. He scratched out pars and finished with a 4-foot birdie putt that gave him a 2-under 68 and a share of the lead going into the final round at The Olympic Club.

Furyk, also bidding for another trophy from golf's toughest test, outclassed Woods in the final pairing with key bunker saves and an 8-foot birdie putt on the 17th for a 70, making him the only player who has yet to have a round over par.

They were at 1-under 139, the only survivors against par.

Woods, wearing a key lime shirt, turned in a lemon. He fell out of the lead with two bogeys in the first three holes, couldn't make a birdie on the stretch of holes that Olympic allows players to make up ground, and ended with a sloppy bogey on the 18th for a 75.

There were only eight scores worse in the third round. And it matched Woods' highest score when he at least a share of the lead after any round of a major. He also closed with a 75 in 2009 at the PGA Championship when he lost a two-shot lead to Y.E. Yang.

All is not lost for Woods, not to mention another dozen or so players.

In a U.S. Open that is living up to its reputation, it was difficult for anyone to build a big advantage.

McDowell and Furyk were two shots ahead of Fredrik Jacobson, who had a 68. In the group another shot behind were Lee Westwood, whose Saturday-best 67 gave him another shot at his first major, and Ernie Els, who holed a long pitch for eagle on the 17th that carried him to a 68. The Big Easy is a two-time U.S. Open champion, with that first title coming 18 years ago.

Thirteen players were separated by four shots going into Sunday, a list that includes 17-year-old Beau Hossler, who followed bogeys with birdies for a 70.

Woods, who has never won a major from behind, was five shots back. His round ended with a shot from the middle of the 18th fairway that hung up in the right collar of rough, and a stubbed chip that took a hard turn to the left some 10 feet away.

When he two-putted for his sixth bogey, his day got a little worse. Climbing the hill toward the fabled clubhouse at Olympic, a photographer brushed past him and Woods banged his hand into the camera. He shook it several times, but later said he was fine.

The real hurt came from Olympic.

"It was just a tough day on the greens, and most of the day, I just kept getting that half-number, right in between clubs all day," said Woods, who was either well long or short on his approach shots.

Furyk, the only player who has not had a round over par this week, and McDowell played together in the opening two rounds. On Sunday, much more is at stake.

But this was not shaping up as a two-man race for McDowell and Furyk.

"Looking at the leaderboard, you've got to look down as far as the guys at 3 or 4 (over) as having a realistic chance of winning this tournament," McDowell said.

For every bogey Hossler made, he answered with a birdie on the next hole.

His only big blunder came on the 11th, when he was too aggressive with a downhill putt and missed his par putt from 6 feet. Two holes later, he hit a heavy chip from the hazard that rolled back down a slope for another bogey. The kid just wouldn't go away, though, and suddenly he is dreaming big.

Hossler wanted to make the cut. Then, he wanted to be the low amateur. Now?

"My goal now is to win the tournament," he said.

In the 14 majors he has won, Woods was never worse than par in the pivotal third round and had a scoring average of 68.3. There was no way that was going to hold up on a course like Olympic, though Woods was expecting better than what he delivered on this Saturday.

He missed the first fairway, came up short of the third green and wound up with three bogeys through six holes.

Woods wasn't alone in making mistakes. David Toms, tied for the second-round lead with Furyk and Woods at 1 under, played that rugged six-hole stretch in 5 over and fell six shots behind with a 76.

Even with the USGA watering the course Friday night and Saturday morning, Olympic was as relentless as ever.

But it wasn't impossible.

Westwood showed that, as did Els, who called it as easy as the course played all week.

Kevin Chappell, who tied for third last year to earn a spot in this U.S. Open, had a 68 and takes an unthinkable streak of 24 holes without a bogey into the final round. He was at 3-over 213, along with Webb Simpson, who also had a 68.

Asked if the experience at Congressional would help, Chappell gave an apt description of what awaits on Sunday.

"Last year we were trying to make birdies in the U.S. Open," he said. "And here, you're just trying to survive."

Westwood came in right behind Chappell, and while he failed to take advantage on the par 5s, he finished in style with a 40-foot birdie putt on the 18th for a 67. Westwood began this week as the third wheel in a powerful threesome of the top players in the world ranking. Luke Donald, the world No. 1, and defending champion Rory McIlroy have gone home. Westwood now has another chance to pick up his first major.

He twice has missed a playoff by one shot, in the 2008 U.S. Open at Torrey Pines and the 2009 British Open at Turnberry. He twice as been runner-up in the majors.

A win on Sunday would end that heartache, and return him to No. 1 in the world.

"I think I've probably been in contention in major championships more than anybody else over the last three or four years," Westwood said. "So I'm looking forward to tomorrow and hopefully go out and have some fun and see what happens."

(AP) ? Former jet-setting Texas tycoon R. Allen Stanford had plenty of things to say Thursday before a federal judge sentenced him to 110 years in prison for bilking investors out of more than $7 billion over two decades.

An apology was not one of them.

In a defiant, rambling statement that lasted more than 40 minutes, Stanford told the court about the injuries he suffered during a prison fight; criticized the government for its "gestapo tactics" when his companies were put in receivership and their assets sold off to pay back investors; described his financial empire as a victim of the 2008 credit collapse; and recalled riding horses with former President George W. Bush.

"I am and will always be at peace with the way I conducted myself in business," he said before the judge handed down the sentence.

Prosecutors said Stanford, 62, used the money from investors who bought certificates of deposit, or CDs, from his bank on the Caribbean island nation of Antigua to fund a string of failed businesses, bribe regulators and pay for a lavish lifestyle that included yachts, a fleet of private jets and sponsorship of cricket tournaments. The one-time billionaire was convicted in March on 13 of 14 fraud-related counts in one of the largest Ponzi schemes in U.S. history.

Houston retiree Sandra Dorrell, who lost over $1 million in the fraud, said Stanford's statement to the court shows the financier cares only about himself and will never admit any wrongdoing.

"It would have been really nice if he had turned around and said, 'I am sorry,' to the victims," said Dorrell, 59, adding that the sentence handed down by U.S. District Judge David Hittner was "very well-deserved."

Prosecutors had asked that Stanford be sentenced to 230 years in prison, the maximum sentence possible. Stanford's attorneys had asked for a maximum of 41 months, a sentence he could have completed within about five months because he has been jailed since his arrest in June 2009.

Stanford's convictions on conspiracy, wire and mail fraud charges followed a seven-week trial.

During Thursday's hearing, Stanford remained defiant, insisting his business empire was legitimate and he "worked tirelessly and honestly."

"I did not run a Ponzi scheme. I didn't defraud anybody," Stanford said.

Prosecutor William Stellmach chastised Stanford for his lack of remorse for defrauding thousands of people of their life savings and preventing them from being able to send their kids to college or to get needed medical treatment.

"To the bitter end, he was a con man and a coward," Stellmach told the court.

Hittner allowed two people to speak on behalf of the victims during the sentencing hearing.

Angela Shaw, a Dallas-area woman who founded the Stanford Victims Coalition after three generations of her family lost $4.5 million in the fraud, said the financier's "heinous crime" has taken a "staggering toll on victims around the world."

At the end of his statement, Jaime Escalona, a Venezuelan who lost $1.5 million and founded the Coalition of Latin American Stanford Victims, turned to face Stanford and said, "You deserve what's coming to you. You are a dirty rotten scoundrel."

Stanford was once considered one of the richest men in the U.S., with an estimated net worth of more than $2 billion. His financial empire stretched from the U.S. to Latin America and the Caribbean. But after his arrest, all of his assets were seized and he had to rely on court-appointed attorneys to defend him.

Defense attorneys portrayed Stanford as a visionary entrepreneur who made money for investors and conducted legitimate business deals. They accused the prosecution's star witness ? James M. Davis, the former chief financial officer for Stanford's various companies ? of being behind the fraud and tried to discredit him by calling him a liar and tax cheat.

Prosecutors had wanted Stanford to get a longer prison sentence than the 150-year term Bernard Madoff received for orchestrating the largest pyramid scheme in history. Madoff's name was often mentioned during Thursday's sentencing, with Stellmach insisting Stanford's crimes were worse because he kept most of the fraudulent proceeds for himself, bribed regulators and targeted middle-class investors. Defense attorney Ali Fazel said that unlike Madoff, Stanford had legitimate businesses.

Prosecutors declined to comment after the sentencing. Fazel said he was disappointed.

"It's a harsh punishment. It's tough on him," Fazel said. "He feels like he didn't do anything."

In handing down the sentence, Hittner called it "one of the most egregious frauds ever presented to a trial jury in federal court."

Anthony Sabino, a law professor at St. John's University in New York City, said Hittner sent a powerful message with Stanford's sentence.

"Clearly, the judge was moved by the scope of Stanford's crimes and the number of people he harmed and how much harm he did," he said.

Hittner also ordered Stanford to forfeit $5.9 billion, but that was mostly symbolic because Stanford is penniless.

The jury that convicted Stanford also cleared the way for U.S. authorities to go after about $330 million in stolen investor funds sitting in the financier's frozen foreign bank accounts in Canada, England and Switzerland.

But due to legal wrangling, it could be years before the more than 21,000 investors recover anything, and whatever they ultimately get will only be a fraction of what they lost.

Three other former Stanford executives are scheduled for trial in September. A former Antiguan financial regulator was indicted and awaits extradition to the U.S.

Home Improvement 101 ? Vital Tricks to Get Started

Home improvement can either be a pleasant and fun experience or a stressed-out exercise in frustration. Also, numerous things play a role in whether your experience will be a good one or bad. It is our belief that a lot will depend on your thought process as well as your good attitude towards learning. Obviously this isn?t a shock to those of you who are used to improving where you live. Still, don?t try to cross the finish line too quickly if this is a new experience for you, there is much knowledge to be had. To get you pointed in the right direction, discussion will be had on several crucial ideas for bettering your home. Have a look at these informational sources ? Dallas roofing companies and Houston roofing contractor.

Even experienced home plumbers can end up with a leak. Depending on where the leak occurs, you may have to tear it all down and do it all over again. Learning from your mistakes is nice, but not nearly as nice as not making any mistakes. Knowledge when it comes to plumbing is very important, but experience is nice, too. Being prepared means that you know what to do when replacing parts, such as o-rings and gaskets, and what type of glues to use. Never think about saving money by reusing any plumbing parts, such as nylon tape, sealing compound, o-rings, or gaskets. When rubber sealing pieces get old, they become hard and deformed, so they should be thrown away. Take your original parts to the local hardware store, and get parts that are exact fits.

The relative effect of home improvement on your situation can be dramatic and cause issues of all kinds. Sometimes there is simply way too much to even attempt to cover in one go, and that is important for you to realize and take home. We will begin the rest of our conversation right away, but sometimes you have to stop and let issues sink in a little bit. In light of all that is offered, and there is a lot, then this is a perfect time to be reading this. The last remaining areas for conversation may be even more important.

All home improvement projects require being cautious of even small details. Electrical equipment can be finicky, especially if you forget to twist wires in the proper direction when hooking them up. Exposing the individual wires, that will spread out when turning the screw if done incorrectly, will not happen if done the proper way. Another thing you need to consider, especially when using fasteners, is to use the right sized washers. Locating the right washers is essential to go to the home improvement center if you don?t have them. Washers are necessary if you want the connection to last forever because you are only using a manual amount of torque. To prevent rust from occurring due to oxidation, and also making sure the connection remains intact, use the right sized washer.

Talking about safety is absolutely essential, especially when you?re dealing with a home improvement project that you have not done before. Chemical safety is one of the most important issues to be concerned about when working at home. This can be an extremely important concern if you use volatile solvents around the home. MSDS, or Material Safety and Data Sheet, is the name of the online site that can help educate you in regard to chemical safety. This online resource presents all of the known chemicals and safety information that you can learn right away. If you are working in an enclosed area, the fumes that you inhale may cause damage to certain organs or even promote cancer developing in your body.

Home improvement has never been easier because the information is so easily accessible on the Internet. From novice to expert, make sure your project is a success by planning out the exact steps you are going to take.

Ok, this is a reversal for me - we letter on a book that we unquestionably commend and have kept in my library for 10 years.? And if we have questions about doing a business for investment consideration, trust me it's a right book to have no matter what year it is.

Venture Capital Investing; The Complete Handbook for Investing in Small Private Businesses for Outstanding Profits by David Gladstone lives adult to a title. It covers a stairs start ups should import when formulating a business plan, a offered plan, or even seeking for support from family and friends.? My hearing transcribe is my own, a initial book - there is a second book with some updates - yet presumably book will definitely assistance we systematise your business for profits, growth, and scold investment.

Thorough Questions For Important Capitalization And Investment

Gladstone's book is thorough.? As in material letters that are truly meant to bark THOROUGH.

Venture Capital Investing is structured as a little textbook, yet in existence it's a fit for many businesses that find try material or during smallest are pondering of it. ??Even in a voluntary Gladstone conspicuous that after gaining ?ten years believe in try capital, he could not find a book that elaborated on investment in little private businesses.? It competence be a bit many to contend a book covers all - Gladstone admits his book is not a wilful calm - yet this one definitely gets it right on a things that count.

The book's value lies in seeking a questions and explaining a investment slight a try businessman would journey before investing.? A start adult organisation can advantage by observant how a tips fit for a business visualisation being developed.

There are some tellurian psychology and behavioral basement that get secluded thoughtfully, such as how to import a businessman in a investment.

"People customarily pronounce during 125 disproportion per minute, yet we can cruise and clarity examination during 500-600 disproportion per minute.? This means we have copiousness eventuality during interviews and discussions with a entrepreneurs to collect adult many of a forked clues and elementary information that will lead us to a sound welfare about a person."

Tips on building certification information on a business cover a gamut. The maestro references fragment has a set of questions seeking bankers, lawyers, even landlords specific questions on a start up's background.? These sections are a few paragraphs, and truly value a bookmark if we need to give or advantage a finish pattern of a organisation we are trade with.? Appendix 1 sets a questions in a accessible numbered list.

Later segments explain a financial measures that should be in place, along with negotiating a bargain and exit strategy. Unless we unquestionably are in IPO planning, we can skip a exit chapter; The trade territory gives easy to examination overviews of what certified concerns exits.? There's no set ratio, yet good reason of what metrics are incalculable and why.

Understand The Investment Behavior Of An Entrepreneur

"But what if we am crowdsourcing," we ask. "What if we am not going to pronounce to a VC?" ?The questions acted in Venture Capital Handbook do assistance in those instances, given you'll advantage some ideas as to how to answer investment concerns, that in existence are business concerns.? The fragment called Warning Signals of Problems, utterly a personal early warning signals from Gladtsone's experience, is good. For example, while many experts explain regulating churned businesses is great, Gladstone explains when "hustle mode" is argumentative for investment:

"Sometimes an businessman will come in and tell we about an investment that he is going into personally. This is always a vast red flag.? Whenever an businessman puts his full time and pleasantness into anything else, we can be certain that a business we invested in will suffer."

The book was initial published in 1988 - a bit brazen of a tide mount of tech-based start ups and opportunities uttered in books like Rework, The Mesh, and High Tech, High Cloud Customer Service.? But a carried questions pronounce to a book's value and longevity.? we have has my transcribe given 2001 and still steer a calm on occasion. ?You'll advantage a lot from this in terms of awaiting banker questions. ?I am some-more than certain your business will work profitably after user by Venture Capital Investing.

Let me introduce myself... | Psychology Today

Hi and welcome to my new blog for Psychology Today! I?m very excited to be here and to have the opportunity to share with you some of the cutting-edge research that scientists have conducted on the dynamics of close relationships. My goal is simple (and somewhat selfish, since I truly love talking about these issues) ? to give you the most up-to-date scientific information about love, romance, sex, attraction, conflict, and the many other fascinating and frustrating issues we face in our romantic relationships.

Now, let me admit right up front that I am hardly the poster child for relationship perfection. I?ve made a lot of mistakes in my romantic relationships and I?ve experienced the same problems and pitfalls that everyone else has. But this blog is not about my own romantic successes and failures, although these have undoubtedly informed my understanding of dating and mating. I?m a social psychologist and statistician at a large university, and I conduct research on love, sex, and romance.

Thousands of participants have passed through my lab and generously given their time (and their data!) ? and this has allowed me to write nearly 200 scientific articles and presentations as well as a number of books about relationships (Close Relationships [Routledge, 2011], The Mating Game [Sage, 2003, 2008], The Psychology of Interpersonal Relationships [Pearson, 2005], and Lust: What We Know About Human Sexual Desire [Sage, 1999]). I also teach classes about relationship science, and have been honored with the Outstanding Professor Award by my university for excellence in instructional and scientific achievement.

And what I?ve learned over the course of doing all this research and writing and teaching is that some of my own personal ideas about relationships are just plain wrong! The power of science is that it has the ability to test many of the assumptions, and answer many of the questions, that we have about our romantic relationships. Is there really one and only one true love for each of us? Do opposites always attract? Is there a ?good? way to end a relationship? Can marriages survive infidelity? What are the best ways to resolve conflict? In this blog, we?ll answer (or try to answer) these and other questions.

I hope you find our discussion interesting and informative. Feel free to leave a comment or suggest a topic ? I only ask that you keep your comments clean and courteous (I?ll do the same). Thanks for joining me!
